Recouping, a food fight and a hooo-man

Thankfully things have calmed down a bit here at Maison Desrochers. Gabe has recovered well from his lip incident and we are counting the days until friday, November 3rd when Seth’s cast will come off. Seth couldn’t stop smiling when the doctor told him just two more weeks. All the way home I could look in the rearview mirror and see him staring out the window beaming ear to ear.

The middle of last week Nathan decided that baby food was no longer for him, and after spitting everything out in a loud razberry sort of way over several meals we got the drift. So we have started the great food experiment. So far he has tried Cheerios, pizza crust, hot dogs, french fries, nectarines, grilled cheese, pasta, bread, and by far his favorite- Sesame Street crackers. Things are much messier on and around the high chair, but the way he talks to his food and squeals makes the extra clean up worth it.

Gabriel has had a conversation explosion as of late. He is talking to everyone about everything non-stop. Last week, a day after the stitch incident, John was putting him to bed and I could hear Gabe on the monitor saying he wanted to hug Mommy. So I made my way up the two flights of stairs to the third floor and as I round the corner into his room, Gabe says to John “Mommy a hooo-man”. To which John replies “what?” . Now Gabe does not give up or even get frustrated when he is trying to get his point across. He will just keep repeating until you get it, and then he will nod his head and say “yes”. So after about fifteen exchanges, of Gabe saying hooo-man and John saying what, it dawns on me. I lean over the bed and give him a hug, kiss him and say “yes Gabe, Mommy is a woman”. He smiles, nods his head and says “yes”. Apparently my two year old has figured out which of these is not like the others in our house and has now added the word into his vocabulary to describe it.
