I am happy to be participating in the iLoveToCreate Fall Challenge! I received a package of Tulip Multi Glow Puffy Paints. I loved that they Glow in the Dark. I wanted to create a project that was fall themed and would showcase this cool product. I decided on monster sneakers for Halloween for my littlest guy, Eli.
I picked up these simple black canvas slip on sneakers at my local Walmart for just $5.
I used something round I found in my kitchen (this happens to be a lid from a spice bottle) and a piece of chalk to sketch out the faces onto the shoes.
Then I sketched out the features of the two monsters onto the shoes. I chose to do Frankenstein and Dracula, but I wanted to make them cartoony and fun, as Eli is in pre-K.
Then I grabbed the full package of Tulip Multi Glow paints. Look at all of the colors to choose from.
First I outlined the edges with the paint…
Then I just filled inside, kind of like filling in a cookie with royal icing. Cake decorators call it “flooding”, which is what you basically do-flood the area with the paint. I then let these dry for a full 24 hours. Then I added the facial details after this base layer was dry, so that the colors wouldn’t blend while wet.
Wallah! Fun Halloween Monster Shoes for my 4 year old!
On the Frankenstein shoe I added a few lightening bolts around the sides and back. On the Dracula one I added small bats.
Eli liked that they were on the instep. He kept peeking at them when I was trying to photograph him!
One happy little guy!
He even started jumping he was so excited!
And YES! They DO glow in the dark!
