Decked Out- The People of the Deck The Halls Wine Tour
Yesterday I told you about our trip to the Deck the Halls Wine Tour on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. While we were the guests of the Finger Lakes Visitors Connection we found that the wine tour was not just a drive around the lake stopping at the wineries. All in all, it was an experience.
While there is plenty of walking hand in hand and romantic weekends alone in the air, there are those who go all out while decking the halls and festoon themselves as well.
This large group of ladies sporting the latest in handmade cork and jingle bell necklaces booked a trip with a travel company in Wayne, New York. They were having so much fun together (especially those ladies to the left)!
Speaking of necklaces, this guy had snacks for the car rides between wineries ready to go. Each of the people in his group had different appropriately festive pendants on their creations.
Quite literally, almost every single group we came across that were decked out in their holiday finery was from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area of Pennsylvania. This included these ladies in the over the top red haphazard holiday headbands.
Not only was this woman sporting a tinsel and ornament laden evergreen chapeau, I was disappointed I hadn’t met her later in the day so as to photograph the light show that it also was capable of.
We saw these ladies at our second winery we visited on Saturday. Before I had decided that I was going to write a piece on the looks people were sporting on the trail. After I had started photographing people I kept remarking to Daddy D that I wish I had gotten their photograph.
Then less than half an hour before the end of the day they walked into the same place we were. I may or may not have squealed and run over to exuberantly ask to take their picture with their fantabulous bedazzled grapes and feather festooned tiaras. Possibly.
This one must belong to the true wine aficionado!
This has to be my favorite combination of both vehicle and dressed up people! Very few things in life are better than a girls weekend. These ladies are rockin their pink “what happens with the sisters stays with the sisters” shirts. And do you see that U-Hual? If you thought that’s for extra suitcases for the overpackers in the group you would be mistaken. No, they fill that up with their favorite finds throughout the weekend and then drive it home to-you guessed it- the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area.
This weekend was fun and relaxing. So much so that not one person that I asked to photograph or interview turned me down. They were all very happy to tell me about their experience at Deck the Halls Wine Tour year after year after year. That’s right, everyone I talked with had come before. We realized that this was not just one great weekend with exceptional weather that put everyone in a festive mood. This is something people come back to again and again because it is a wonderful time.
