Hello Kitty Birthday Cake
Today is my niece’s fourth birthday! Yesterday was her birthday party and as is our tradition, I made her cake. She had called me last month and asked for a Hello Kitty cake, and of course I said yes!
I was excited that Wilton makes a Hello Kitty cake pan. I purchased it, and was ready to go!
I used the Hello Kitty Cake Pan, but that is a one batter mix pan and there were going to be more guests at the party then this would feed. I then used the 12 x 12 cake pan from the Wilton Square Pan Set to make a base cake to put the Hello Kitty pan on top of.
To decorate the cakes I used two packages of Wilton White Rolled Fondant. After a crumb coat of buttercream I just rolled out the white fondant and placed it on the Hello Kitty cake. I then did the details in black, yellow and red fondant.
For the whiskers, I used the Wilton Black String Licorice. These were so easy to use!
I then covered the base cake in pink fondant I had colored using the Wilton Pink gel. After that was covered, I used red fondant I colored using Wilton Icing Gel: Red Red.
All of the strips for the stripes were made using the Wilton Fondant Ribbon Cutter Embosser Set.
Here is my sassy little Mocha Cub listening to her Happy Birthday song (with a very serious Eli singing away in the background).
Happy Birthday baby girl, Ahna (her name for me) loves you!
