We were snowed in this weekend as several inches of the white stuff blanketed us.  What better time to break out the Wilton Gingerbread House Kit and get to work on some holiday themed memory making?

I opened the Wilton Gingerbread House Kit and found all of these items included inside:

Wilton Gingerbread House Kit Family ActivityAs our four boyz have quite hefty sweet teeth, I picked up some additional decrations at our dollar store and added them to our Wilton Candy Decorations.

Wilton Gingerbread House Kit Family ActivityI encourage you to follow the directions given inside the kit.  You have to wait 2 to 3 hours in between assembling the house and decorating it. I loved the tip to use canned goods to help keeps the walls upright and together as the icing set!

I put all of our candy in bowls to facilitate decorating, and added a fair amount of the icing to the provided disposable bag with tip.  From there the boyz were able to get to work!

Wilton Gingerbread House Kit Family ActivityBefore we knew it, they had finished up, covering pretty much every available space with candy.  But we had plenty of left over icing.  What to do?  Daddy D drew on the hands of our mischievous decorators, and then let them put the remaining candy pieces in them.  They then proceeded to have an after decorating snack while giving the gingerbread house some time to set.

Here are all of the details in all their glory.  I love the smiley face the little boyz put on the back, the Christmas trees made of Dots candy, and Nate & Eli’s slightly crooked peppermint door.  It was fun to make, and I am sure it will be even more fun to eat!
