Art Party Food Table
My budding little artist wanted to throw an art themed birthday party when he turned six last month! I shared how he helped create this birthday cake here.
One of the fun things about this theme is the variety of ways you can incorporate artistic ideas into the party. Some of my favorites were to create some fun treats!
These were very simple to make. First I made traditional Rice Krispie Treats and let them cool. Then I added a popsicle stick.
Using Wilton Candy Melts in a rainbow of colors, I dipped the ends and then placed on parchment paper to dry. These were a huge hit and were very yummy!
We had the edible paintbrushes, now my little artist needed a paint palette. Enter cookies!
I used a heart cookie cutter to make these, and then cut off the tip. Using the end of a cake decorating tip to cut out the thumbhole. After baking I covered in white cookie icing. Then using the same Wilton Candy Melts from the previous project, I added dollops of colors to the palettes.
I topped off the snacks with a rainbow variety of fresh fruit.
To decorate the table we made these suspended paint cans. By using a dowel on a heavy wooden base, we balanced the paint can and colored tablecloth on the dowel.
Eli and I worked on a crayon art piece by gluing Crayola crayons across the top a canvas, putting the vinyl letters of his first and middle name on and then using an embossing heat gun to melt the crayons.
And finally, for the backdrop I used an actual painters canvas drop cloth. After hanging the crayon art in the center, I then arranged a variety of frames cut using my Cricut Explore out of black cardstock in an assortment of shapes and sizes.
This was so much fun and I love how it came out!
