Nerf Dart Cupcakes
I am part of the #WiltonTreatTeam, and as such I receive both product and compensation in return for these posts. As always, all experiences and opinions expressed are my own.
Do you have a Nerf fanatic in your house like I do? I actually have five, Daddy D included. So it came as no surprise when Gabriel asked for Nerf themed cupcakes for his birthday. Because these were for school guns were a no no, so I decided to focus on those iconic darts.
I strive to make everything on school cupcakes entirely edible, if at all possible. But I didn’t want to just roll out a chunk of fondant and for the dart. Instead I chose a rolled wafer cookie. These I was able to pick up at the dollar store.
Tinting the fondant to the right shades took a bit of work, but once there it was pretty simple. I rolled navy blue around the cookie and then added an orange bit to the end.
Adding my favorite Wilton 1M tip swirl to the top of the cupcake in a lime green buttercream, I then topped with a touch of sprinkles and then the dart.
I often get asked how I transport cupcakes to school. Being a Wilton girl, I LOVE the Wilton 3 in 1 Cake Carrier they have. The tray that places in the carrier is two sided. One side accommodates a dozen full size cupcakes, the other 24 mini cupcakes. I also love that they securely stack for carrying. Two carriers takes care of the whole class!
Gabriel loved sharing these with his classmates!
