Holiday Toy Picks 2014

Some of the toys mentioned were received as promotional items to try.  There are also affiliate links in this post.  As always, all opinions and views stated are my own.

The Holidays are fast approaching!  After spending lots of time at toy events the past few months checking out the latest and greatest, I’ve compiled a list of some of the things that really caught my eye for Holiday 2014.

One of my favorite tech toys I saw during all of the toy events I covered was the WowWee Mip.  This is a fun robot and I think it’s price point is fairly reasonable.  I also loved all of the things it could accomplish and how easy it was to maneuver.

IMG_0952Take it a step further this holiday season and pick up one of the HexBug Vex Robotics kits.  I really loved building my own robotic HexBug Vex and can’t wait to see the boyz tackle it on their own!

Nostalgia is big in toys this year for both boys and girls toy lines.  The quintessential line amongst boys, and even many girls is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  I especially love the toddler line from Playmates Toys that is made for those smaller hands!IMG_0970

I was overwhelmed with nostalgia when I saw these Pound Puppies.  I had several as a kid, and I love the new line that keeps true to what we know and love.

The same with these amazingly soft and cuddly Care Bears Plush from Just Play.  I loved these and wanted to take a whole bunch home.  But definitely wanting a Care Bears Cousins line!

This was one of my favorite finds, Spaghetti Headz.  At under $15 this is a simple, fun way to dress up hair for those young, tween and even teen girls!

IMG_0992Huge in girl toys is also the Puppy Surprise.  Part of the fun in finding out how many puppies you have, whether 3, 4 or 5.  This is a hot item for the little ladies on your list!

IMG_1020The maker movement concentrates on creating with your own two hands.  It makes its way into the kids toy section in the realm of craft kits.  I especially am fond of Alex Toys since they also came out with a line of craft kits aimed specifically for tween boys.  I am excited to watch them make duct tape wallets and paracord bracelets!

As always, video games are a huge part of the holiday shopping in our family.  Our favorite family game right now is Skylanders Trap Team.  The fourth in the Skylanders series, this new version that features collectible traps as well as adding new characters to the brand.  It is a hot commodity in the D household!

My favorite techy kids gift is the HP Stream Tablet 7.  At a great price point, I love that it brings the world of tablet play and apps into kids hands.

So there you have it, my best bets for Holiday 2014!  What is your favorite, or what would you add?
